-- God isn't pleased with our songs. The lyrics we sing are meant to be put into action. If our heart is for Him, then we are to be for the poor, the weak, the sick, and the broken. What we sing needs to be more than just words we sing, we need to put ourselves in a physical melody where we're out there serving and letting justice roll like a river.

several entries on the graphitti wall dealt with the statistics of povery in the OC, others shared about specific interactions that they had with those they had served in the afternoon.

After the evening session (which was awesome), we all headed over to the "Arts Interactive" room and several people added some of their thoughts and impressions of the day on the giant graphitti wall.

I've only barely lifted my head from the pillow the last few hours.

Soooo exhausted.

So much to share.

So...very....tired...

Basicaly, it was awesome. Everything was exactly what I had dreamed, or
better. Really.

Glad you could see some of it on the blog site, we still have tons of photos
left to upload and I need to write a bit of narrative about the day's
events.

The workshops were awesome. In the "Poverty In The OC" workshop that I taught, we spent all our time on one exercise that took the entire hour and a half because everyone was so into it and everyone was wanting to share.

The crowd was about 70 or so (I didn't count but we had 40 registered and
another 20 or so walk ups, plus our 15 volunteers so, it was about 70).

On Tuesday night God woke me up and told me, "Stop trying to make this
bigger if I want it to be smaller". So, I stopped and decided not to worry
about it.

The truth is, I really think it worked better at the size it was.
More intimate, more interaction, sort of an "invitation only" feeling to the
event. Hard to describe, but honestly, next year I'll cap registration at
100 people and advertise it as "Only 100 seats available".

I realized also that this smaller, more intimate, and interactive gathering is what I love about Greg Russinger's "SOLITON NETWORK" events up in Ventura. (And the next one is in August. Be sure to register while you can).

Anyway...Lots of great feedback from participants. Many had never been to anything
like this before. Most had never even served the poor in this way and so the
event really did hit the target demographic.

David Ruis is my hero. He kicked butt. I'll have cd's or podcasts (or both)
of his messages soon for ya.

Until then, if you were there at ENGAGE, I invite you to share your comments on any of the entries below so we can all read about your reactions first hand.

I'd love to know what everyone thought about the day.

Today we transformed Trane Hall into the "Soliton Arts Interactive Room".

Tomorrow ENGAGE begins....

Engage- Just weeks away....

Here I sit in what will become transformed into the Soliton Arts Interactive room. For now it's called Trane Hall and it's in St. James Anglican Church down in Newport Beach.

Soon, this room will be filled with participants, artists, thinkers, and brave sojourners on a quest to follow Jesus wherever He leads, even outside their own comfort zones.

In this room we will encounter the reality of poverty here in the OC and we'll write, journal, draw, paint, sculpt and interact together about the issues. We'll grapple with God's calling on our lives to seek Him in the least, the lost and the forgotten.

Hopefully, we will grow together in this process. How can we not be changed by taking this step?
